Master Bathroom Renovation
The original master bath had a dated jetted tub, worn tile, and oak cabinetry that was typical of 1990s construction in the Duluth area. We gutted the space down to the studs, which let us address moisture issues behind the walls and install a proper waterproofing system. In Northern Minnesota, bathrooms take extra abuse from humidity swings between heated indoor air and sub-zero outdoor temps, so getting the moisture barrier right was a priority.
The new layout replaced the jetted tub alcove with a spacious walk-in shower featuring floor-to-ceiling vertical tile, a rain showerhead, and a built-in bench. We installed a floating double vanity with quartz countertops, brushed gold fixtures, and pendant lighting. The floor is large-format porcelain tile in a dark charcoal that anchors the lighter tones above.
Kitchen Renovation
The kitchen had solid bones but was stuck in the past: honey oak cabinets, laminate countertops, ceramic tile floors, and a white appliance package. The homeowners wanted a brighter, more functional kitchen that could handle family gatherings and everyday cooking alike.
We installed two-tone cabinetry (white uppers, dark walnut-stained lowers), a large waterfall-edge quartz island with seating for four, and a copper range hood as the focal point. The new LVP flooring runs continuously from the kitchen through the loft and living areas. Pendant lighting over the island and recessed cans throughout provide layered task lighting.
Loft & Master Bedroom
The loft area featured oak railings, carpet, and a popcorn ceiling typical of its era. We installed tongue-and-groove pine planking on the vaulted ceiling, replaced the oak railing with a modern cable rail system, rebuilt the staircase with stained treads and painted risers, and laid new LVP flooring throughout. The transformation turned a dated transitional space into the visual centerpiece of the home.
The master bedroom received new flooring, recessed lighting, fresh paint, and a connection to the renovated master closet. The old carpet and barn door were replaced with hardwood-look LVP and a clean, modern entry to the en-suite.
